Wirld.com paid a visit to Birmingham Pride !
We had a fun time at Birmingham Pride 2019 over the May Bank holiday weekend. Birmingham Pride had the "Virgin Trains Main Stage"with "Years & Years", "Mabel","Sigala"and a blast from the past with "The Human League" and "Marc Almond". Something for everyone.
Birmingham Pride is one of the UK's largest with over 80,000 people out to party. This years theme was "Love Out Loud", and it looked like everyone did!
The parade sets off around midday on the Saturday ending up by the top of Hurst street, next to the Gay village. The main event is ticketed and the entire Gay village is closed off .
Security was tight with bag checks and a very sexy selection of about 12 armed police no less!. The Pride festival is made up of a main stage , a cabaret marquee, dance arena and a funfair and a rather cracking street party thrown in for good measure.
"Years & Years" were great , "The Human League" brilliant and "Marc Almond" really got the crowd whipped up.
And once the sun was down the street party got really going and still there were more acts on the main stage. "Faithless" played a great set and the crowd went nuts for more!.
And if you fancy a wander around there are plenty of food stalls and all the bars and clubs open on the street party. We certainly didn't get bored and practically had to be dragged out "Missing"at 4am !
